The Cisco 6DS3-SMB-B is a hot-swappable TDM line card tailored for Cisco 12000 Series Gigabit Switch Routers, offering six high-density DS3 ports (T3, ~44.74 Mbps each) via SMB duplex connectors—equating to 12 total connectors. Engineered to simplify the deployment of DS3 leased-line services, it supports key protocols and diagnostics such as HDLC, Frame Relay, and Cisco IOS CLI/SNMP management, hardware-based QoS, local/network clocking, loopback, and comprehensive alarm processing, with error-correction capabilities (ECC) to ensure reliable T-Carrier performance. It includes approximately 64 MB of RAM, occupies a single thin slot (14.5″ × 18.5″), consumes up to 54 W, and enables online insertion and removal (OIR) for minimal disruption in demanding carrier-grade environments.
