The HPE J9976A (R120) is a compact dual-band Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) VPN-capable wireless router designed for small offices or branch environments, featuring one Gigabit RJ‑45 WAN port, four Gigabit RJ‑45 LAN ports, and MIMO antennas supporting 3×3 spatial streams per radio. It provides up to 867 Mbps on the 5 GHz band and 300 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, with an aggregate wireless transmission speed of around 54 Mbps per chain, and includes a built-in USB port (for optional feature extensions). Powered by Cisco IOS-style security features, it supports stateful packet inspection firewall, VPN tunneling (IPsec, L2TP, PPTP), VLANs, QoS, MAC/IP/URL filters, and intrusion prevention. The R120 operates quietly without fans in a wall- or desktop-mountable form factor, and delivers quick setup via its user-friendly GUI and robust connectivity with up to five simultaneous IPsec VPN tunnels and ~920 Mbps NAT throughput
