The Cisco NCS1002‑K9 Network Convergence System 1002 is a 2‑rack‑unit DWDM transport platform capable of carrying aggregated 10G, 40G, and 100G client signals across CFP2 DWDM trunk ports, with programmable support for 100G, 200G, or 250G per wavelength. It contains four independent I/O slices, each offering up to five QSFP28 client ports (making up to 20 client ports) and served by two CFP2 trunk ports per slice—enabling high port density for data center environments. The system runs Cisco IOS XR and supports features like programmable flex-grid optics, MACsec, advanced telemetry, and online insertion/removal of components. The NCS1002 includes redundant AC/DC power supplies and field-replaceable fans, targeting scalable, resilient DWDM transport within cloud-scale and enterprise backbone deployments.
