The HPE JG896A (FlexFabric 5700‑40XG‑2QSFP+) is a high-density, wire-speed Layer 3 managed top‑of‑rack switch designed for demanding data center or enterprise server-edge deployments. It includes 40 SFP+/SFP28 ports (operating at 1 GbE or 10 GbE) and 2 QSFP+ ports that provide native 40 GbE uplinks and can also be split into four 10 GbE channels each. The switch delivers ultra-low latency (approximately <1.5 µs for 10 GbE) and robust performance with a 960 Gbps switching capacity and ~714 Mpps forwarding rate. Powered by Comware v7 and supporting HPE’s IRF virtual fabric, it offers advanced Layer 2 and light Layer 3 functionality including static routing, RIP, TRILL, EVPN, QoS, ACLs, jumbo frames, and FCoE/DCB support, along with dual hot-pluggable power supplies and fan trays for enhanced reliability.
