The Cisco SPA-1XCHSTM1/OC3 is a high-capacity, hot-pluggable shared port adapter designed for platforms like Cisco 7600, ASR 1000, and ASR 9000 Series routers. It provides a single STM-1/OC-3 interface capable of being channelized into multiple T1 or E1 circuits (up to 84 T1 channels in SONET mode, or 63 E1 channels in SDH mode), offering granular bandwidth allocation over standard optical links. The module supports legacy services and resilient modern networks, featuring hardware-based encapsulations such as MLPPP, Frame Relay, HDLC, PPP, and robust protocol support including SONET APS and SDH MSP redundancy. With Online Insertion and Removal (OIR) capability and SNMP support for manageability, it enables scalable, efficient, and flexible WAN aggregation in carrier and enterprise environments.
