The Cisco PVDM3-256 is a high-density voice and video DSP (Digital Signal Processor) module designed for the Cisco 2900 and 3900 Series Generation 2 Integrated Services Routers. This 240-pin plug-in module delivers up to 256 simultaneous low-complexity codec channels, or 192 medium-complexity and 120 high-complexity voice channels, enabling robust services such as conferencing, transcoding, transrating, and secure voice (G.722, G.729, iLBC, SRTP). It supports up to six 64-participant conferences or 70 eight-participant sessions, and delivers a roughly four-fold increase in performance over its PVDM2 predecessors—all within a compact, field-upgradeable form factor.
